Tottenham Hotspur forward Vincent Janssen and Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk have been named the main men for the Netherlands during their recent World Cup qualifiers.  Danny Blind’s side beat Belarus last week, but lost at home to France last night.

Voetbal International have today revealed the team ratings for the two games, and it is Janssen who was named the Netherlands Man of the Match for the game against Belarus last Friday. The Tottenham star has been given a rating of 8/10 for his efforts, following his stunning goal during his country’s 4-1 victory.

Janssen’s goal against Belarus was his 4th in 8 games, but he was unable to add to this last night against France. The 22-year-old played the full 90 minutes against Didier Deschamps side, but couldn’t help prevent Blind’s side losing 1-0.

Janssen was given a rating of 5.5/10 for his performance last night, but his national teammate Van Dijk was awarded 8/10 for his display. The Southampton defender stood firm during the first half onslaught from the French team, and helped his side to keep the score down to 1-0.

Van Dijk has now established himself as a regular in the Dutch set-up since making his debut last year. The Southampton was given a 5.5/10 for the clash with Belarus, in a game in which he wasn’t required much.
