Miguel Britos has revealed he didn’t feel like going to training during his final year at Watford.
The centre back spent four years at Vicarage Road after initially joining from Napoli on a free transfer in 2015.
He racked up 74 appearances for the club in that time and was a regular in his first two seasons, making 24 Premier League appearances in his first year and 27 the year after.
However, he managed just 12 appearances in 2017/18, while last season he featured only three times, with injuries severely limiting his availability.
His departure was not a happy one, with him having already revealed in the past that he felt Watford didn’t appreciate him in his final years at the club.
That’s something he’s now doubled down on, saying it got to the point where he no longer wanted to turn up to training.
“My final year at Watford didn’t go well,” he told La Red 21.
“I played very few games and had a string of injuries that left me a little bit on the sidelines.
“Then I got into a rhythm, but the coach didn’t give me the chances I think I deserved.
“I didn’t feel well, and at one point, because of the injuries, I didn’t feel like going to training, which had never happened to me before.
“I wasn’t enjoying it, and I went back to Uruguay to see what I could do, whether I could keep playing, or whether I could relax.
“I arrived in Uruguay, and after a difficult year, I wanted to enjoy my family and my parents.”
