A lot can change in a year for a national team and players within it. A year ago, everything around the Serbia squad was doom and stories were everywhere about the poor attitude of players.
The 3-2 victory over Austria at the weekend, after also beating Moldova 3-0, has seen perceptions change, and no more so than for Dusan Tadic. The Southampton star is receiving huge praise in Serbia, probably as huge as it gets.
Serbia newspaper Blic have an article on the player, and explain how important he is: ‘Portugal has Ronaldo, Argentina has Messi, and we have Dusan Tadic.’
Blic say that of the last 8 goals Serbia have scored, Tadic has netted three himself, and set up five. The Southampton man’s statistics are described as ‘incredible’ for Serbia, and it’s pointed out that this is one occasion when stats certainly don’t lie.
The only worry Blic have about Southampton’s Tadic with Serbia is… what on earth happens if he doesn’t play? Tadic should be returning to Southampton feeling like a national hero, because, as far as Blic are concerned, he is one.
