Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne will miss the Champions League clash against Barcelona on October 19th, according to Catalan outlet Sport.

The newspaper’s website says the player was examined by doctor Ramón Cugat in Barcelona and it’s likely there won’t be time to recover from the injury he had against Swansea City.

De Bruyne was reportedly told he shouldn’t hurry on his recovery, otherwise there’s the risk of making things worse. So it’s more possible that he returns a few days later, on October 23rd, for the Premier League match against Southampton.

In that case, the player would be good to face Manchester United in the EFL Cup and also to play against Barcelona in the home match on November 1st.

With two goals and six assists, De Bruyne was one of the players who has had an incredible growth after Pep Guardiola’s arrival. The Spanish press treats his absence as a huge loss for City and very good news for Barça.
