As you may be aware, Watford have a plethora of players out on loan all over the world at the minute.
Several of them happen to be in Spain and are impressing, with the likes of Luis Suárez earning rave reviews. Matheus Aias is another such player.
The forward has never played for Watford, having arrived in 2017 and spending the intervening years on loan at various clubs.
This year he’s in Spain with Mirandés, his second year at the club, and making waves in the Copa del Rey.
He’s got five goals in five games in the competition so far, with two against Sevilla and another against Villarreal, his stand out strikes.
These performances have seen him make an ‘important media leap’, placing him on the ‘agenda’ of some of the best teams in the country according to Fichajes.
They report that the Watford man is ‘proving his worth’, with some starting to compare him to Chimy Avila, who was one of the revelations of the season before he suffered a serious knee injury.
The website explains that like Avila, he can run for 90 minutes without stopping and hold up the ball, while he also has a great shot, is bloodthirsty and can smell and goal and when he looks for it usually finds it.
They claim that he has been ‘uncovered’ as one of the ‘great strikers of the season’ and plenty of teams, including some of the big ones, have already taken a look at him.
His price is ‘higher’ because he is owned by a Premier League team, namely Watford, but he has become a player whose development is worth keeping an eye on after his breakthrough first year.
