Leeds United summer signing Kyle Bartley has been named in the EFL Team of the Week following his performance against Barnsley at the weekend. The 25-year-old joined the Championship side in the last transfer window on loan from Swansea City.
EFL.com have today released their best eleven from last weekend’s round of games, and the former Arsenal defender has made the cut.
Bartley was instrumental in Leeds United getting all three points in their Yorkshire derby against Barnsley as Garry Monk’s side won 2-1. The central defender opened the scoring for Leeds United, and was on hand to clear off the line as Barnsley went in search of a late leveller.
This was Leeds United’s fourth league win in five games, and their success has been built on their resolute defence.
Bartley has forged a blossoming partnership along with fellow summer arrival Pontus Jansson in the centre of defence. Leeds United have conceded just three goals in the last five games, and with Chris Wood in goalscoring form Monk’s team have propelled themselves up the league table.
