Lucas Torreira has been gathering interest from Napoli as Gennaro Gattuso wants to strengthen his midfield for the second half of the season.
Three days ago, we carried a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, who explained the Gunners have not yet responded to the Serie A side’s proposal.
That’s because the north London club are ‘waiting for the player to say something’ as the Uruguay international is currently trying to know more about Gattuso’s project at Napoli.
Journalist Ciro Venerato spoke to Rai’s La Domenica Sportiva and provided an update about the 23-year-old. This has been relayed by Area Napoli.
He claims the Arsenal player is on top of the Italian club’s list, along with Brescia’s Sandro Tonali. However, Napoli are yet to find an agreement with either Arsenal or Brescia for the transfer.
Venerato also mentions the Naples club like Torreira’s Arsenal teammate, Granit Xhaka and Paris Saint-Germain’s Leandro Paredes, but on a loan deal.
It’s highly unlikely new Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will allow both Torreira and Xhaka leave the Emirates in January.
