When all roads looked like they led to David Moyes, Everton appear to have pulled off a coup and hired Carlo Ancelotti.
Reports today in Italy stated that the Italian manager had met with Alisher Usmanov in London this week and that a deal was on the cards.
That’s a rumour that’s now being covered by numerous sources, with a preliminary agreement seemingly in place between both parties.
However, before Ancelotti can rock up on the touchline at Everton, he has to sort things out with former club Napoli, and Sport Mediaset have the lowdown on that.
They say that ‘everything is practically defined’ with Ancelotti and Everton, adding that Ancelotti was ‘personally chosen’ by Farhad Moshiri, as he was not convinced by either David Moyes or Mikel Arteta.
Napoli chief Aurelio De Laurentiis ‘should not make big obstacles’ on this front as the money he’ll save will help him fund new manager Gennaro Gattuso’s contract.
As for Ancelotti at Everton, plans are already underway for the staff he’ll have behind him at Goodison Park as well.
He’s not planning on taking his Napoli staff with him to Merseyside, although his son Davide and son-in-law Mino Fulco will be joining him, although it’s not stated which jobs they will be doing.
Current Everton interim boss Duncan Ferguson will not be overlooked, as he’s set to take up the role of ‘assistant’ under the Italian boss, which will be welcome news to fans who have enjoyed seeing the Scot on the touchline for the last two games.
