Everton defender Jonjoe Kenny has urged his fellow youngsters to head to the Bundesliga and discover the benefits of the league for themselves.

The Blues full-back elected to leave his boyhood club this summer, choosing a loan deal in search of regular first-team football.

He ended up moving to the Bundesliga with Schalke, joining former Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner in swapping England for Germany.

He has proven to be a massive success at the club so far, becoming Schalke’s first-choice right-back and earning rave reviews for his performances.

This season alone he’s managed 16 appearances in all competitions and starting all of those games too, a stark comparison to the 15 appearances and 11 starts he managed for Everton last season.

The youngster’s success in the Bundesliga is not an unnatural occurrence, with him joining an ever-growing list of young English players to head to the country and flourish.

And he has urged anyone considering it to make a move and discover their independence in a new league.

“It’s the chance to become independent – on and off the pitch,” he told SID, relayed by Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung.

“My advice is: come over and experience it for yourself! The training is more intensive; we train twice a day, in England, it’s only in preparation.

“I feel faster, stronger and fitter. It (the winter break) gives me a little more energy when I know that there will be a break.”
