Monaco manager Leonardo Jardim has dismissed speculation he could move clubs, having recently been linked with the manager’s post at Everton.
The Toffees are on the hunt for a new manager after sacking Marco Silva last week following a dismal 5-2 defeat in the Merseyside derby that had dropped them into the relegation zone.
A whole host of names have been linked with the position since and Jardim’s has been among them.
Indeed, one newspaper in England suggested that the Blues were ‘keen’ on the Monaco manager and he was one of several who were ‘of interest’ to them in their extensive search for a new coach.
“Honestly, I have a 23-year career as a deputy, a 4th division coach, a D3 coach, a D2 coach, etc.” Foot Mercato reported him saying.
“I only changed clubs once in the middle of the season. It’s not a very usual thing. I am in Monaco; I have a contract with the club. I usually respect (his contract).
“Of course, as Ancelotti said, the coach depends on the results, and we need to keep working and stay focused on the important things.”
While not entirely ruling out the possibility, that’s about as clear as Jardim could be about the rumours about him.
It seems if Everton were to approach him, then it would be given short shrift and they may be best served focusing elsewhere, perhaps on a certain Carlo Ancelotti?
