Brentford right-back Henrik Dalsgaard has admitted he can’t explain the Bees recent upturn in form as they are ‘not doing anything different’ compared to the start of the season.
Thomas Frank’s side started the season in poor form, managing just two wins in their first ten games of the campaign.
They have since turned that around, though, winning five of their last six games in all competitions to rise up the table.
The latest win was a 3-0 win over Wigan before the international break that helped take Brentford up to ninth in the table and just four points outside of the play-off places.
The turnaround since the last international break has been exceptional, to say the least, and is one that Dalsgaard is at a loss to explain.
“I don’t think we’ve done anything different than at the start of the season,” he told Bold.dk.
“But there are some relationships that click now, and we know each other better. Especially on the field, we are not fun to play against at the moment.
“We won only three away games in the whole of last season, and now we have won three in a row, so we’re doing things the right way.
“Among other things, we have lost three matches with 1-0, where the opponents had one shot on goal, and all statistics showed that we should have won 4-1.”
With the play-offs now in touching distance and Brentford in such fine form, eyes at the club are looking up rather than down.
While four points separate the Bees from a promotion spot at present, the gap between them and second is seven, a not impossible amount to make up.
Dalsgaard and his teammates are not aiming that high for now, though, admitting the top six is the aim and one they believe they can get if injuries don’t ruin things.
“It is a great feeling that we are getting the results now,” he added.
“And it’s great to be in a place where the manager and the owners do not panic and change everything because the results are not there for a period of time.
“Brentford is a solid club, and you can see the results now. The target is the top six, and we certainly have the chance if we can keep ourselves fairly free from the worst injuries.
“But the Championship is a special league. There is not a single match we can take for granted.”
