Ivan Rakitić is no longer a key player at Barcelona and has made only one start in all competitions this season.

‘Pulse for Rakitić’ is splashed in bold on the front page of Mundo Deportivo as Juventus and Inter Milan have set their sights on the 31-year-old.

The Old Lady were interested in the Croatian in the summer, but their offer didn’t please the La Liga winners. It’s claimed there was contact between the two clubs recently, when Juve asked about the possibility of signing the former Sevilla star.

Even though Ernesto Valverde’s side don’t hide that Rakitic can leave in January, they don’t want to rush and make a decision since there’s close to two months left before the window reopens.

The player is also sought by Inter as Antonio Conte is also thinking about him. The Italian coach publicly aired his frustration after his side’s Champions League to Borussia Dortmund.

Mundo states a move to the San Siro would see him play regularly and Conte’s game plan would also suit him. Juve have more midfielders in the squad and Rakitić could struggle for minutes if he joins them.

If Rakitić’s situation doesn’t improve at the Camp Nou, he will prioritise a project that will improve his chances of winning the Champions League.

This could give Juve an ‘advantage’ over Inter in the transfer battle because they are better placed than the Nerazzurri in this season’s competition.
