Manchester United could have the chance to sign James Rodríguez, with Real Madrid keen to offload the Colombia star.
Rodríguez is out of favour at the Bernabeu, with El Desmarque reporting that manager Zinedine Zidane would prefer to use Isco Alarcón.
As a result, Real president Florentino Pérez has agreed with Rodriguez’s agent Jorge Mendes to resolve the 28-year-old’s future.
The January transfer window is likely to be crucial, and the website says ‘everything indicates’ that the midfielder will end up joining a Premier League team.
Pérez has a plan to try and use Rodriguez as a bargaining chip for one of the three signings he is ‘testing’ in the winter market.
A move to Old Trafford is said to be the best option for Rodríguez although El Desmarque do concede that it is also the most complicated for them to try and get done.
Why that would be the case isn’t explained, but it would presumably be because Manchester United don’t want to lose Pogba and Rodríguez is not a player they would look at anyway.
With the club focusing on youth he’s well over their preferred age bracket at 28, while this team under Ole Gunnar Solskjær is not set up, nor can it afford, to have a luxury player like him in it.
If Madrid’s next big plan to get Pogba is to try and use Rodríguez as part of the deal it seems like that they’ll get the same answer they received in the summer; no thanks.
