Back in early October, Barnsley FC decided it was time to part ways with Daniel Stendel after a run of ten games without a win.
The decision didn’t go down too well with fans, but the 45-year-old was never brought back, with Adam Murray taking over as interim manager.
However, things haven’t exactly improved in the Championship, as Barnsley are 23rd after 15 games, one point above Stoke.
The search for a new manager has continued over the past month, and Expressen in Sweden claimed Poya Asbaghi, currently in charge of IFK Göteborg, was ‘one of the main candidates’.
However, Expressen are now claiming on Tuesday that Asbaghi has now informed Barnsley that he wants to stay with his current side, because he ‘feels he is far from finished with his work’ with Göteborg.
The Swedish paper claimed they reached out to the manager for more detail, but he informed them he ‘does not wish to comment further on the interest of the English club’.
