Marko Grujic signed for Liverpool in 2016, and whilst he’s already played a few games for the Reds, he’s spent the majority of his time out on loan.

Having signed from Red Star Belgrade in the January 2016 window, the midfielder was sent straight back to the club on loan.

Facing inevitable difficulties breaking through at Liverpool he was then sent to Cardiff City in January 2018, able to impress at the Welsh club for the rest of the season.

The following summer he switched to Hertha Berlin, again on a loan basis, and that deal was extended by a further season in the last window.

Now 23 years of age, Grujic is doing all he can at Hertha to catch Jurgen Klopp’s attention.

Bild take a look at the situation, and say the young footballer wants to ‘achieve great things’ with the Bundesliga side so he can convince Klopp he’s ready for the Liverpool switch.

Hertha face Werder Bremen on Saturday, and ahead of the match Grujic has been quoted as saying: “I want to be ready for Liverpool. For that, I have to improve my physique with Hertha, gain more match practice and lift my ability to get to a new level.”

His manager Ante Covic is also aware of the plan: “Marko wants to shorten the gap to Liverpool, he wants to use us to recommend himself.”

Marko Grujic’s contract at Anfield runs until June 2023.
