Player ‘tactically and socially focused’ after Tottenham exit – Putting everything into new adventure

Kieran Trippier left Tottenham Hotspur and made the switch to Atletico Madrid in the summer.

The right-back has played every minute for Los Rojiblancos and is one of only four Los Rojiblancos players to feature for 270 minutes. It was earlier reported that none of the club’s new signings over the last seven seasons has adapted as quickly as him.

Trippier impressed for England in their 4-0 victory over Bulgaria and that was his first appearance for the national team since October 2018.

AS explains Diego Simeone’s side decided to sign the former Burnley man, despite his failure to replicate his England form at World Cup with Spurs last season.

They hail Trippier’s decision to move to La Liga at 28 years olds and after a difficult period, while other English players, who moved to Spain in the past, arrived when they were at the peak of their career. 

It’s claimed the ex-Spurs fullback is ‘tactically and socially focused’ on wanting to learn at Atletico. That means he’s throwing himself into learning what Simeone wants from him, and off the pitch is trying to get as involved as possible, including putting a great deal of effort into his Spanish.

AS are of the belief that Trippier’s move from Tottenham to Atletico could benefit England, especially at Euro 2020, and that could be mainly down to the player’s desire to further improve his game.
