In need of a centre-back, Arsenal strengthened their defence by signing David Luiz from Chelsea on the deadline day.
The Brazilian’s arrival has forced Shkodran Mustafi further down the pecking order in the position, behind Luiz, Sokratis and Calum Chambers, and Unai Emery has publicly revealed that he has told the Germany international he can leave the Emirates.
TuttoMercatoWeb explained on Monday the defender has emerged as a target for AS Roma and the Serie A side’s sporting director, Gianluca Petrachi has considered him as an option.
The report also explained Mustafi could leave the Gunners on loan with the right of redemption set between €20-25m.
He is represented by his father Kujtim Mustafi and Romanews asked the agent if there has been any approach from Roma for the player
Kujtim said, “I know nothing about it. I have no information about a Roma interest.”
There have also been reports of interest from Turkey and it remains to be seen if Arsenal can offload him before the European transfer window closes on September 2nd or whether they’ll be stuck with him until January (at the earliest).
