Sometimes players get their wishes in the transfer window and sometimes they don’t. Mario Lemina is a player who falls into the latter category.
The Southampton midfielder is out of favour at Saint Mary’s and was busy looking for an exit for much of the transfer window.
He found himself linked to the likes of Everton and Manchester United and he made it clear he wanted a move to a bigger a club than the Saints.
A move has not materialised, though, and it seems he’s fast running out of options before the close of the European transfer window at the end of the month.
L’Equipe report Rennes had considered a move for Lemina this summer as they’re looking to add a midfielder to their squad, following the departure of Benjamin André to Lille.
However, Lemina was nothing more than a thought for the French club, who did not bother to take it beyond that. The newspaper makes clear there were no serious negotiations or even a start of talks with Southampton.
The midfielder’s options for a summer move are fast running out.
