On Wednesday, we relayed a story from Germany claiming that Werder Bremen were reportedly interested in Brighton & Hove Albion full-back Bernardo.
Seen as an alternative to Benjamin Henrichs, the Brazilian was touted as one of the players the Bundesliga side had on their list, but that has now been dispelled.
According to DeichStube, a site dedicated to the Bremen based club, there has been no interest from Werder for the Brighton man.
The same went for Andrea Conti, currently at Milan, as the German outlet explained the only man for the right-back role being looked at was Henrichs, but the principality club seem reluctant to let him go after spending €20m on him last year.
We did raise an eyebrow about the inclusion of Bernardo in our original article considering how often he had been used by Brighton last season.
Add to that the fact Graham Potter included him in the squad for their season opening victory over Watford last weekend and brought him on for the final minutes of the game, it was difficult to see the Premier League club parting ways with their player when they can no longer replace him.
Sometimes, rumours are short lived, and most of the time it’s probably for the best.
