There are plenty of transfer sagas going on this summer and Giovani Lo Celso to Tottenham Hotspur is among them.
The Argentine has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane all summer, but unlike other long-running negotiations and potential deals, the transfer is nowhere near to completion.
Indeed, Betis are reportedly tired of the whole thing now, and we covered a report earlier today that they had ended negotiations and are upset by Spurs’ attitude.
Diario de Sevilla cover the potential deal once again today, and while they don’t back up ABC’s claims, they make it very clear that the ball is in Tottenham’s court.
Betis have made it clear that an agreement is not close and they are waiting for Daniel Levy to make a ‘definitive step’ for the midfielder, who Spurs have already talked to and reached an agreement with.
Whether that happens, though, is doubtful and Diario believe much of it will revolve around Christian Eriksen. The suggestion is that if he leaves, Spurs will make their move but if he doesn’t, they won’t bother.
Levy is waiting to see what happens on that front and if it’s the former, he will ‘accelerate’ for replacements, such as Lo Celso or Bruno Fernandes. Until that happens, which at this point looks unlikely, the Lo Celso saga is going to rumble on until deadline day.
