If there’s one thing Newcastle United know how to do, it’s shop in France.

With a long history of players moving to St James’ Park from Ligue 1, it really shouldn’t be a surprise how active Steve Bruce’s side are on that particular market this summer, and after reaching an agreement with OGC Nice for Allan Saint-Maximin and negotiating with Stanley Nsoki, the Premier League club are trying to sign another Paris Saint-Germain youngster.

His name is Moussa Sissako, and while his name bears some semblance to that of a former Newcastle midfielder, now at Tottenham, he’s actually an 18-year-old centre-back.

According to Loic Tanzi, a journalist for RMC Sport in France, the Magpies have been ‘working for several weeks’ on his case, trying to acquire his services.

In fact, it’s stated that ‘an agreement is close to being found with both the player and Paris Saint-Germain’.

It sounds a lot more promising than what is currently going on with Nsoki, and if they do pull it off, it will be interesting to see where he fits in the plans at St James’ Park.

Straight in the first-team as a backup? Or will he spend some time with the youth teams to get acclimatised to his new surroundings?
