AS Monaco want to get rid of Djibril Sidibe this summer and Leonardo Jardim’s priority is to replace him with Montpellier’s Ruben Aguilar, claims L’Equipe on Thursday.

It’s also claimed the right-back has enjoyed a certain amount of popularity from the Premier League. Southampton, Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace have shown interest in the defender.

With the transfer window in England set to close in the just over a week’s time, the Saints, Graham Potter’s side or the Eagles need to move quickly, if they wish to sign him.

Aguilar’s contract at Montpellier runs down in 2020, meaning the Ligue 1 side could be open to the idea of selling him this summer rather than letting him leave for nothing a year later.

L’Equipe doesn’t mention the fee needed to convince Montpellier to sanction the fullback’s sale.

Neither do they suggest who among Palace, Brighton and Southampton are ahead in the race for the fullback.

He made 29 starts in the league last season, scoring one goal and registering four assists in the process.
