At least once per transfer window, one player will go AWOL, and this time around, it’s Aston Villa target Marvelous Nakamba.
The Club Brugge midfielder is among the players Dean Smith seems keen to add to his squad ahead of the club’s return to the Premier League, but an agreement has yet to be reached between the two sides.
It was close, however, as Het Laatste Nieuws state the Villains were ready to pay £11m for the Zimbabwe international back in June.
The amount would have been enough for the 25-year-old to get a work permit, but Aston Villa shot themselves in the foot by asking for one of their players to head to the Belgian side on loan in exchange for ‘a few million euros’.
That didn’t go down well at Club Brugge, who pulled the plug, and the deal is now reported as ‘completely gone’, at least for the time being.
Nakamba has made it clear he wants to go to the Premier League by failing to turn up to training, and Voetbal Primeur state the Jupiler Pro League side ‘would consider legal action’ if that continues.
This could get ugly.
