With three of his clients currently under contract at Manchester United, you would forgive Mino Raiola for being a little biased towards which team he fancies to win the Premier League.
Becoming best friends with José Mourinho and Ed Woodward over the summer, the super agent has made his thoughts on Manchester City’s new manager, Pep Guardiola, clear a few times in the past, and speaking to Radio CRC, relayed by Corriere dello Sport, on Thursday, he added another layer.
Asked about the Premier League, he said: “I could never support a team coached by Guardiola, and I could never say they would win. I don’t know who will win the league, but I hope it’s not City.
“Manchester United are coming back from a few tough years, and having lost that game like that against City, it gives the team strength.”
It appears that Raiola has the same mentality as his client Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who recently told his club’s website ‘when I lose, I learn’.
Last weekend’s Manchester Derby certainly lived up to expectations, with some end to end football being played, especially in the second half, but José Mourinho’s tactical mistakes took their toll in the first half as Guardiola’s men thumped two past David De Gea.
One thing seems pretty certain now, though, and that is we probably won’t see many Raiola clients going to Manchester City or other Pep Guardiola sides in the future.
