Tottenham Hotspur and Fernando Llorente parted ways after the striker’s contract expired on June 30th.

Harry Kane is the main man to lead the north London club’s attacking division and Mauricio Pochettino has the services of Vincent Janssen as another striker in the squad.

The Dutchman has struggled since joining Spurs, and injury and poor form forced him to spend majority of the last season away from the pitch.

Two days ago, Sport reported Tottenham have identified Real Madrid’s Mariano Diaz as a transfer target.

Thursday’s edition of Spanish newspaper AS claims the Premier League side are interested in the 25-year-old.

In addition to this, the former Southampton manager has identified Los Blancos’ attacker as a replacement for Llorente.

The ‘problem to join’ Tottenham for Mariano is the presence of Kane, as the England international is unmovable.

Apart from Tottenham, AS further explains Mariano has offers from AS Roma and AC Milan.

However, none of these clubs have so far been able to convince him on a summer transfer, and Mariano’s intention is to continue at Real Madrid.

Considering how far down the pecking order he is at Madrid, surely Spurs will start to more attractive sooner or later.
