Nacho Monreal of Arsenal is the ‘eternal aspiration’ of Real Sociedad.
Monday’s edition of Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo claims the La Liga side have long been interested in the left-back.
La Real have been ‘attracted’ to the Spaniard for the past three years and their director of football, Roberto Olabe, has not deleted the player’s name from the list of transfer targets.
It’s claimed taking Monreal away from the north London club seems difficult because he has contract at the Emirates until 2020 and the Gunners have an option to extend it by a further year.
Despite interest from Sociedad, it’s still complex for them to conclude a deal for the 33-year-old.
In addition to this, there has been no negotiations or contacts between the two clubs, which further distances Sociedad from signing Monreal.
He does not have a release clause and Arsenal have not slapped an asking price on him.
Mundo explain all these factors make it difficult for Real Sociedad to bring Monreal to the club.
