Wolverhampton Wanderers continue to be pointed out as the favourites to land Mexican defender Edson Alvarez.
This time, it’s journalist Jonatan Peña who claims the Premier League side will be signing the America player this summer.
It all started with a column from Record on Tuesday saying that Alvarez already has an agreement to join an European side.
The club who will take him wasn’t been revealed, and the condition for things to go through would be he doesn’t get injured with his national team.
Now Jonatan Peña has been asked on Twitter if the claims are true.
A follower sent him a message saying ‘Is it true that Edson Alvarez is already tied up with a European team but on the condition that he does not get injured in the Gold Cup?’, and he simply answered by saying ‘Wolves’.
Although that original text hadn’t mentioned Nuno Espírito Santo’s side, this column is a place where we can find a couple of links involving Wolves.
First, it was the same columnist who said Alvarez was being offered to Wolves by Jorge Mendes. Then, in this latest article, they included a link to the poll made by Wolves fans electing Alvarez as their favourite signing for the summer.
Regardless of how advanced things are, we should only have bigger news after the Concacaf Gold Cup final, which is being played on the 7th of July.
