According to a claim in the Turkish media, Fenerbahce are not looking to sell Michael Frey in this transfer, despite interest from Middlesbrough and others.
The Championship side have been linked with the Swiss attacker in the past week, with reports they were looking to table an offer of €5m for the 24 year old.
However, Fotomac today reports Fenerbahce sporting director Damien Comolli isn’t looking to offload Frey this summer after recently losing Roberto Soldado and Islam Slimani.
It’s claimed the Fener director sees Frey as being a €20m player in the next couple of seasons and subsequently he will not sell to the likes of Middlesbrough or Anderlecht in this window. Again, Fotomac back up Boro’s interest in the player and say an offer has been made.
Fenerbahce paid €2.5m to sign Frey last summer from Zurich but the Swiss striker’s first season with the Turkish club hasn’t gone well due to injuries and poor form.
Frey scored 5 goals for the Istanbul club in 22 appearances in his debut season and is under contract at the Ulker Arena until June 2022.
