Like Paul Pogba, the future of Romelu Lukaku is one that’s likely to dominate this transfer window.
Manchester United have made it clear that Lukaku isn’t first choice at Old Trafford and he’s more than happy to move on.
A move to Inter Milan appears to be on the cards, with Antonio Conte keen to bring him to the club after missing out on his signature at Chelsea.
AS back up those claims today and say Lukaku is grateful for the effort Conte is putting in to secure his signature. Indeed, AS have some financials for the deal too. Inter will pay €80m for Lukaku, who will earn €6.5 million a year.
However, while Conte is keen on the move, they feel Lukaku is only heading to Inter as it’s his best option.
According to them, the 26-year-old thinks his talent is best suited to La Liga, but there isn’t any interest in him in Spain.
It’s his ‘main desire’, say AS, but he’s off to Inter ‘unless he receives an offer from Spain’.
Atlético Madrid already have Alvaro Morata and Diego Costa, while Real Madrid have added Luka Jovic to their ranks this summer. Barcelona, meanwhile, simply aren’t interested despite contacting several strikers this summer.
Juventus tested the water through several intermediaries, but they didn’t make a firm offer at any point.
That leaves the Manchester United striker with just Inter to choose from this summer, an offer AS believe he has begrudgingly accepted after the distinct lack of interest from Spain.
The Spanish newspaper believe the move to Inter will become official in the next few weeks, whilst in Italy they’re still trying to work out how the club can afford €80m.
