Rennes’ Ismaïla Sarr has drawn attention from other clubs after scoring 13 goals and registering eight assists in all competitions last season.
Watford are one of the clubs chasing the winger and on Tuesday, L’Equipe reported the Premier League club tabled a €30m offer for the Senegal international.
However, the Ligue 1 side turned down the proposal made by the Hornets and the French newspaper stated a sale ‘should start from €40m’, just a week after France Football reported his asking price was set at €35m.
Le10 Sport brings the latest update and once again claims Javi Gracia’s side are ‘particularly interested’ in the 21-year-old, and it’s stated they submitted an offer of €25m plus €5m in bonuses for the attacker.
Rennes president Olivier Létang had earlier indicated he needs a €50m bid to part ways.
The report now states, ‘it is now a question of negotiating to find an agreement between Watford’s proposal and Rennes’ expectations.’
Le10 Sport explains a deal can be concluded for a fee between €40-45m, including bonuses, but there is no suggestion in the report if Watford will improve their proposal for Sarr.
The Rennes forward is ‘tempted’ to play in England and the proposal of the Vicarage Road club ‘seduces’ him. Should the two clubs find an agreement, he would then say ‘yes’ to the transfer.
