West Ham United target Gustavo Cuellar had a work permit to join the Premier League denied by the FA, according to claims on Monday.
Brazilian journalist Gustavo Henrique, who’s been following the case since the beginning, claims the player’s agents were ‘surprised’ by the denial.
Cuellar’s staff are now set to make an appeal, and in case it’s also denied, Gustavo Henrique says it’s required a period of 120 days before another application.
It’s been a month since the journalist started claiming that West Ham and Flamengo already have an agreement of €28m for Cuellar. The Colombian international would be set to move after the Copa America.
But before we buy this story, we must point out that this is the only journalist reporting this transfer, with some reliable reporters in Brazil doubting West Ham would pay so much for Cuellar.
That’s the reason why on Twitter, Flamengo fans are wondering if this story could be an escape for the journalist in case the transfer never happens.
