Tottenham Hotspur put in a brilliant performance to beat Stoke City 4-0 at the weekend.
Moussa Sissoko is a favourite in France and L’Equipe perhaps go a little over the top by declaring: ‘He only needed 45 seconds to quickly show the reasons why Tottenham spent €35m to snatch him from under Everton’s nose during the transfer window’s final hour.’
He’s good, but showing he’s worth €35m in 45 seconds? That’s remarkable.
It’s not only Sissoko getting praise.
More deservedly Son Heung-min is also receiving plaudits, with Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport naming the South Korean in their European Team of the Week.
Each week Gazzetta pick a selection of the best performers from leagues around Europe, excluding their own Serie A, and Son made his way into the selection.
Son managed to score twice against Stoke, and if Sissoko showed he’s worth €35m in 45 seconds, then Son’s price tag has likely just rocketed, with German club Wolfsburg very interested in the player.
