Crystal Palace goalkeeper Steve Mandanda has found himself in Gazzetta dello Sport’s European Team of the Week.
The 31 year old is no stranger to the selection, having been there several times over the past year. Before moving to Crystal Palace, Mandanda had a season for Marseille which saw him produce heroics as almost a matter of routine.
The French club are already missing their hero, and it was a surprise to many that he wasn’t snapped up by a Champions League team. That’s all to Crystal Palace’s benefit and against Middlesbrough at the weekend Mandanda played a big part in the club’s 2-1 victory.
If he continues the form he’s shown recently, and last season for Marseille, then signing Mandanda on a free transfer may well turn out to be one of the best pieces of business from the summer.
