PSV scout Roy Beukenkamp will immediately move to Manchester United, according to claims in the Dutch media. Beukenkamp has been a scout with PSV since 2015.
Speaking to Voetbal International Beukenkamp said he was happy in his role with PSV, but in the end he couldn’t turn down the chance to join a club like Manchester United. The 48-year-old revealed he will start straight away in his new job.
“I was very comfortable in my work with PSV. This is an opportunity that might never come (again). I start immediately,” said Beukenkamp on his appointment
Since retiring from football the former goalkeeper has been involved in scouting, and his first role was with FC Twente in 2009. He joined PSV’s scouting staff last year, but only on a one-year contract.
Voetbal International say Manchester United have reformed their scouting system this year to give the talent spotters a greater say in which youngsters the club signs, rather than leaving it down to the manager.
