Normally happening once a transfer window, Amadou Diawara has again been linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The story emerged in Italy, as Corriere del Mezzogiorno on Sunday explained ‘contacts’ had taken place with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side as the transfer was being ‘guided’ by a certain Jorge Mendes.
The young defensive midfielder has long been touted for a move to the Premier League, with clubs such as Tottenham and Arsenal seen as potential destinations, yet a move to a team like Wolves makes more sense following what has been a rather disappointing season for Diawara.
Never managing to convince Carlo Ancelotti at Napoli, the 21-year-old has seen his value drop considerably on the market, with claims in Italy the Serie A side only see him as a €25m asset these days, compared to €40m in the past.
Well, a second source in Italy have now picked up on the story, as Il Mattino, normally rather clued in on their local club, confirm that Wolverhampton ‘like’ the former Bologna starlet.
For now, no developments appear to have taken place, and we’re not getting our hopes up of anything happening just yet, mostly due to how often this story returns without anything major happening.
