Chelsea’s quest for a new centre-back continues throughout the Euros, and with Antonio Conte fully focused on taking his country as far as possible, it seems we might have to wait another few weeks before this gets sorted.
In the meantime, many defenders are being linked to the London club, including Napoli’s K2, more commonly known as Kalidou Koulibaly.
The 25-year-old Senegalese international has let his current club know he would prefer to continue his career elsewhere in the near future, something Napoli’s owner Aurelio De Laurentiis wasn’t too happy about.
Making his views clear to the media, De Laurentiis is now on the verge of starting a war of words with Koulibaly’s agent, Bruno Satin.
The Frenchman is quoted by Gazzetta dello Sport as saying De Laurentiis’ reaction was slightly over the top, claiming his client only expressed a desire, with no player at Napoli being unsellable and that it was just a matter of price.
The Italian newspaper states Chelsea seems to be the preferred destination for the player and the agent, with the Premier League club’s interest described as ‘strong’.
As we’ve previously said, we expect this kind of news to continue for the next few weeks before anything gets sorted as Conte will want to end his tenure as Italy manager on a high, rather than rush things to attend club matters.
