Despite a strong start to the season, Christian Kabasele has been in and out of Javi Gracia’s starting line up at Watford since getting sent off against Bournemouth back in October.
After that, the Spanish manager has called upon the Belgium international in stints, especially in games against the top six, exemplified by three of his last five appearances coming against Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal.
Even if this shows his manager does have some faith in him, Kabasele already touched upon his situation earlier this month in a phone call with DH, making it clear he felt he deserved to feature a bit more than he has done.
Invited to once again discuss all football matters with the Belgian outlet this week, the Watford man was this time physically present on Le Grand Debrief, where he was asked about his season, but also quizzed on what his future held.
On the latter, he said: “The club has expressed their desire to extend my contract since October. After that, it’s clear that I haven’t had the game time I wanted. Watford, for the time being, are my priority. I’m not going to lie: my situation has also awakened the interest of other teams, even if there is nothing concrete for now. I’ll talk to the board at the end of the season”.
It appears that Kabasele has made his intentions clear for next season: promise to play me more or sell me.
That decision will ultimately lie with Javi Gracia, who currently has Watford sitting 10th in the Premier League, tied on points with Everton but behind on goal difference.
