Earlier this month, we relayed news from L’Equipe that West Ham were taking a look at Saint-Etienne’s Yann M’Vila.
With Premier League experience already under his belt, the defensive midfielder wouldn’t need any adapting to the rigours of English football, and he would be relatively cheap in today’s market.
Back on April 10th, the French newspaper didn’t report how much it would cost an interested club, like the Hammers, to convince Saint-Etienne to let their star man go, but they have now.
As part of a transfer special, the outlet explain M’Vila is ‘wanted’, ‘notably’ by West Ham.
Of course, that’s only if he wants to leave, and M’Vila has made it clear he was quite happy at a club currently battling for a Europa League spot, and hinted his future could be tied to that of his manager, Jean-Louis Gasset.
At least, if Laurent Blanc’s former assistant manager does leave Saint-Etienne, West Ham will know where to start negotiations.
