After guiding Manchester City to a domestic double in his second season at the Etihad, Pep Guardiola committed his future to the Premier League club by signing a contract extension in May 2018.

His current deal with the English champions will expire in 2021.

Guardiola has won league titles with every club he’s managed so far: City, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

It was at the Camp Nou, where he’d made his name as a player, that Guardiola first showed what he could do as a manager.

He won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup on two occasions and won three league titles among other trophies during his time at Barcelona.

The club’s president Josep Maria Bartomeu was a guest on ‘El Rondo’ programme, of La2 in TVE, and was asked if he there’s any possibility of Guardiola returning to Barcelona in the future.

“Pep Guardiola must return to Barça one day in the future,” Bartomeu was quoted as saying by Mundo Deportivo.

When further questioned if he will call him if there is a need, the Blaugrana chief said: “Of course, we would call him if it’s necessary to do so in order to overcome a complicated sporting situation.

“But, Guardiola is very well at Manchester City, he’s very well and has a very long contract [with City].

The contract isn’t really that long, with the Catalan coach signed up at his Premier League side until 2021.

Maybe then will come the time for him to return to Barcelona, because they may well need him when Lionel Messi is coming into the latter stages of his career.
