Marco Silva is one of the many people who the Portuguese press has been interviewing ahead of Porto’s clash against Liverpool for the Champions League.

Speaking to RTP, the Everton manager has given the Dragons some hope, as he doesn’t believe the Reds can find the same result as last year.

“It’s going to be a tough game, of course. It’s going to be a tough game, and I honestly believe it’s not going to be close to what happened last year,” Marco Silva told RTP.

The Reds beat Porto 5-0 in Portugal in the first leg of the round-of-16 last season, and secured qualification for the quarterfinals with a 0-0 draw at Anfield.

The Everton boss says even though Liverpool have been doing pretty well this season again, Porto should be confident that this is a totally different time.

“Regardless of the great season that Liverpool are making, and what they did last year in the Champions League, I think it will not be at all like what it was last year. It will be a difficult game, but we’ll see.”

Marco Silva then claimed it will be crucial for Porto to play well at Anfield so they can have a decisive match at the Estádio do Dragão: “It’s important for Porto to get a good result. And, clearly, they believe.”

After tonight’s game Porto and Liverpool play the second leg of the quarterfinals on April 17th.
