As Raul Jimenez’s permanent move from Benfica to Wolverhampton Wanderers gets closer, it’s time for the Portuguese press to confirm the news today.

Newspaper A Bola brings a story on Saturday saying that in the past few days, an agent has made ‘the bridge’ between the two clubs, sorting the last details.

The outlet claims they now know that the buying option Wolves have is being used. They recall that the contract says the English side can sign Jimenez for €38m, and Benfica would only accept less money in case ‘they want to’.

The newspaper writes that Raul Jimenez has recently been linked to other European giants, and say that if these clubs continue to chase him, then they will have to negotiate directly with Wolves in the summer, who are ready to spend big to secure the Mexican.

Record, the other big sports newspaper in Lisbon, even covers similar claims from the English press today, but they don’t seem surprised by it.

All they say is they already reported Wolverhampton’s intention at the start of the month.
