Recently, West Ham announced the signing of Sofiane Feghouli on a free transfer from Valencia, and many believe Slaven Bilic has pulled off a masterstroke.
Feghouli’s contract with Valencia runs out on June 30th, and so West Ham were able to negotiate a deal directly with the player.
The Algerian winger has been speaking to French newspaper L’Equipe, and was asked what attracted him to the London club, to which he replied: “I had many offers in different top European leagues, and in some exotic countries, but the chance to sign for West Ham emerged.
“One must play in the Premier League in his career. In terms of experience, it cannot be questioned as it’s the most competitive league.
“I also had a chat with the coach Slaven Bilic. They were really interested, and we found an agreement quickly. The club has a super project, and a new stadium with 60,000 seating capacity. There is also the chance to play in the Europa League.”
Feghouli was asked about his objectives for the upcoming season, and he says he wants to cement his place in the first team.
He added: “I want to play an important role in the first team of West Ham. We want to be in European competition every year and keep progressing.
“I want to shine in the league and in the European competitions at a club with an important history.”
The 26-year-old made 33 appearances for Valencia last season, and has 5 goals and 4 assists to his name.
