All isn’t well with the Sweden national team camp during the current international break.
There’s been several withdrawals, and when it was revealed that Victor Lindelof had asked not to be called up, a strange claim appeared in the Swedish media.
The Manchester United defender is due to become a father soon, so the general assumption was that he stayed in England to be with his wife.
However, Sweden’s Fotbollskanalen claimed another reason was him not being happy with the way the Swedish FA, and manager, were treating his friend John Guidetti, who didn’t get a place in the squad.
After the weekend match against Romania, Emil Forsberg left the Swedish squad, and it was claimed in the country that he’d done so after being angry at being taken off in the second half.
That was also denied, with the official line being that Forsberg is injured.
All a result of all the gossip, both players have been receiving abuse and threats on social media.
Fotbollskanalen report that the police have been called in, and they have a plan in action to deal with the situation.
