Rafael Benitez’s contract at Newcastle United will expire at the end of this season.
Last month, Salomon Rondon, who is on loan at the Tyneside club from West Bromwich Albion admitted that it would be a “pity” if the former Liverpool manager decides to leave St James’ Park following this campaign.
Spanish newspaper Marca sat down for an interview with the Magpies coach and the topic of his future was once again brought up during the course of the interview.
Asked if he will continue with the Premier League club, Benitez said: “I want to focus on these games. Each match will be a final between now and May.”
Benitez further stressed that he and his team are in search of a project which is challenging enough for them.
“The owner [Mike Ashley] knows it: me and my team are looking for a future project, competitive and ambitious. Let’s see if we are on the same line,” the Spaniard added.
