Before Manchester United re-signed Paul Pogba from Juventus in 2016, Angel Di Maria was the Red Devils’ club-record signing.
The winger arrived at Old Trafford from Real Madrid for £59.7m in 2014 when Louis van Gaal was the manager of the Premier League outfit.
After completing one season in England, the 31-year-old left the 20-time English champions and has repeatedly blamed the Dutch manager for his departure.
Di Maria was the guest on ESPN Redes, a program on ESPN network, where he once again admitted that Van Gaal was the reason why he left United.
When further questioned as to why led to the fight between him and his then manager, Di Maria said: “There are times when I lost the ball easily and these are the things he showed me.He always showed me the negative and it started to weigh me down, until one day I argued with him.”
“I told him that I did not want to see that anymore, that I was doing good things, and I asked him why he was not showing them to me … He did not like the way I told him and the problems started from there.”
That fight was enough for Di Maria to get his ticket to France as he joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2015.
Since leaving United, the South American returned to Old Trafford for the first time with PSG last midweek and registered two assists as his side sealed a 2-0 win over the Red Devils in the Champions League.
