For Valencia’s Europa League clash against Celtic, Los Che have rested ‘important’ players for the trip to Glasgow.
Marcelino has not included his forward Rodrigo and left-back José Luis Gayà as they joined the injured duo of Gabriel Paulista and Santi Mina in staying behind.
Wednesday’s edition of AS explains why the Spanish side have decided to travel without five players, including new signing Facundo Roncaglia. He is suspended because of the red card he received against Manchester United in 2017, while he was at Celta Vigo.
It’s claimed that one of the ‘main reasons’ why Rodrigo and Gaya stayed back is the ‘cumbersome trip’ for the rest of the squad as they will only return to Spain only on Friday, which is just over 48 hours before the match against Espanyol.
Even though Paulista is not fit, he is expected to lineup with Roncaglia in the heart of the defence to face Espanyol. 
AS also predicts that Valencia could leave aside the 4-4-2 formation and play with one player up front [Kevin Gameiro] against Celtic, with Lee Kang-in and Ferran Torres supporting from the wide position.
Brendan Rodgers’ men have just one defeat in the last five Europa League matches at home and Valencia will be hoping the decision to rest key players will not cost them a berth in the next round of the competition.
