Tim Krul is currently in a very good moment after a prolonged tough period.

Injury, a struggle to get back to match fitness and find top form, and trying to get minutes at various clubs saw the goalkeeper move from Newcastle United on loan to Ajax, AZ and then Brighton & Hove Albion.

He signed for the latter on a permanent deal, but was unable to get past Matt Ryan, and left for Norwich City in the last summer market.

How things ended at Newcastle is clearly something which has bothered the Dutchman, and he’s spoken about the situation on more than one occasion.

Moving to the English club as a youth player, the goalkeeper built his life there. He made it to the first team, married someone from the area, and probably thought he’d be there for much of the rest of his career.

Injury issues and Rafael Benitez wanting a different kind of goalkeeper meant there was no way for that to happen.

Speaking to De Telegraaf, Krul told the Dutch newspaper: “I don’t want to talk about that anymore. They were twelve fantastic years at Newcastle. I have survived sixteen managers and if there is one coach who prefers to create his own Spanish goalkeeper, then so be it. To be honest, I’m glad that I also made the switch to other clubs, because that’s how I found pleasure at Norwich.”

The stopper could be back in the Premier League next season, and get a chance to play against a club which clearly means a lot to him.
