Manchester United have appointed Gerardo Guzman as their scout in Spain, reports Spanish website Ideal.
Ideal report Guzman’s appointment was made possible after he completed his last assignment for Atletico Madrid.
Atletico Madrid have also agreed to replace Guzman with Nathanael San Fernando Cano ‘Canito’, who has previously worked as a sporting director. Guzman’s role will be mostly to help sign young players from Spain for Manchester United’s academy.
Guzman could be a brilliant signing for Manchester United off the pitch, as he has helped Atletico Madrid sign some of top talents in Spain since he joined them in 2009. He’ll have excellent connections throughout the game in Spain and those will now be able to benefit Manchester United.
Since Jose Mourinho arrived at the club earlier this summer, Manchester United have taken on several new scouts around the world, so it’ll be interesting see if any deals materialise over the next year or two.
