Claudio Bravo’s recovery from his achilles injury continues to get controversial coverage in Chile.
It started with claims saying the Manchester City player would miss the Copa America, which was pointed out by his staff to be a conspiracy just because the national team doesn’t want him.
It was later reported that no one from the national team has contacted the player since his injury, while on social media, Bravo himself claims he’s working hard to play the tournament in the summer.
All this mess is fed by Radio Cooperativa this week, as they’ve interviewed Roberto Navajas, who used to be Bravo’s coach at Real Sociedad.
“Claudio has the ability to recover and be available for the national team, and one of the most important qualities about him is his head and how he manages it,” Navajas told Cooperativa. “His competitive level can be reached without playing games. I think although Claudio may not play official matches he is able to show his maximum competitive level by how his capacity is.
“Claudio’s way of thinking is above the majority of the players, his way of understanding life and football is far above, he has much longer lights, I have worked with a lot of footballers, not only goalkeepers, but also players, and that makes him very good, makes him an incredible person and that’s why he is a leader.”
Now with more people in the media claiming that Bravo should be fine for the Copa America, Chile should have no excuse to keep him out of the team, unless they make the situation clear and explain why they haven’t been in touch with the goalkeeper for over six months.
