Earlier this week, we carried a report from DH in Belgium, who claimed that Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fulham are interested in Divock Origi of Liverpool.
Another Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws once again mentions that Nuno Espírito Santo’s side are ‘interested to take’ the player on a permanent deal, just like they tried to do so before the start of the season.
It’s also explained the Cottagers and Schalke have ‘sniffed around’, but the striker has let the clubs know he would wait until the summer before taking a decision on his future.
At the end of the season, the Belgium international will have 12 months left on his contract and is likely to have more options then.
Even if he wanted to leave the Merseyside club in January, the Reds would have blocked his transfer because Jurgen Klopp views Origi as a backup striker following Dominic Solanke’s move to Bournemouth and Daniel Sturridge’s injury history.
HLN mentions that after Liverpool earlier asked Origi to leave the club mid-season, they have now withdrawn the request due to Klopp’s demands.
The player has also welcomed this decision as he was not keen on making a move away from Anfield this month.
